A child was severely injured after an ATV crash involving three riders at Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area in San Luis Obispo County on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
According to California State Parks officials, the crash occurred near Post 4 at the Oceano Dunes when a 12- or 13-year-old boy riding an all-terrain vehicle collided with two other ATV riders on the beach.
Officials said the child was traveling at a high speed before the collision and suffered substantial injuries. The boy was airlifted by REACH Air Medical Services to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
The two other ATV riders involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. State Parks lifeguards and rangers, along with San Luis Ambulance and Cal Fire personnel, responded to the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
