Two people were killed in a head-on collision west of Blythe on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a wrong-way driver was reported at around 6:30 a.m. traveling in the westbound lanes of the Redlands (10) Freeway near mile marker 124. A head-on collision was reported about five minutes later, around 6:35 a.m.
Emergency responders transported two people to Desert Regional Medical Center. CHP later confirmed that two people died as a result of the crash.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or confirmed whether they were drivers or passengers.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
