[08-06-2026] Orange County, CA – Man Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Lake Forest

A man in his 70s was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a suspected impaired driver in Lake Forest, Orange County, on Thursday night, August 6, 2026.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the incident at around 9:40 p.m. near El Toro Road and Via Ridgeline Road. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the other driver as 22-year-old Joel C. Sheriff’s officials said he was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. 

The deceased man’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the fatal collision.
