A woman was killed after being struck by two vehicles while walking on Highway 85 in San Jose early Thursday morning, August 6, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 1:37 a.m. to southbound Highway 85, south of Camden Avenue.
Authorities said the San Jose woman was walking in the traffic lanes when she was struck by a Honda Civic. The woman was subsequently struck by a Honda HR-V. Emergency personnel pronounced her dead at approximately 1:48 a.m.
CHP said the Civic driver pulled onto the right shoulder, called 911, and waited for officers. The Honda HR-V driver exited the freeway and also waited for authorities. Both drivers cooperated with investigators, and drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be factors.
The CHP continues to investigate the crash.
