[08-11-2026] San Diego County, CA – Man Killed in Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on I-15 Near Fallbrook

A 38-year-old Escondido man was killed in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 15 near Fallbrook in San Diego County, early Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026.

According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the crash occurred around 12:24 a.m. on Interstate 15, south of Mission Road. 

Marcelo B. was driving south when another vehicle traveling in the wrong direction collided head-on with his vehicle.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where Marcelo was pronounced dead at around 12:44 a.m.

Authorities said the wrong-way driver was suspected of being under the influence. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision.
