[09-02-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Franklin Blvd.

A woman died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to repair her bicycle along Franklin Boulevard in Sacramento County on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento, the woman was riding in the right bike lane when a trailer attached to her bicycle became detached after its axle broke.

CHP said the woman got off her bicycle and was attempting to repair the trailer when she was struck by a black pickup truck. The driver of the pickup fled the scene.

The woman was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Authorities have not yet released her identity.

CHP officers are searching for the vehicle involved and continue to investigate the incident.
