[09-19-2026] Kern County, CA – Man Killed, Passenger Severely Injured in Rollover Crash in Kernville

A 38-year-old man was killed, and a passenger suffered severe injuries in a rollover crash in Kernville, Kern County, on Saturday afternoon, September 19, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded at around 1:11 p.m. to Sierra Way, north of James Road, following a report of a crash involving a Ford pickup truck.

CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 38-year-old Onyx man was driving a blue 2019 Ford Super Duty pickup northbound on Sierra Way when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the east-ascending canyon wall.

The impact caused the pickup to overturn multiple times. CHP said the unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The right-front passenger also suffered severe injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.

CHP said drugs and/or alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
