[09-23-2026] San Diego County, CA – 45-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Egger Highlands

A 45-year-old bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision in San Diego’s Egger Highlands neighborhood early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred at around 1:15 a.m. in the 1500 block of Palm Avenue.

Police said the bicyclist was riding a mountain bike eastbound in the bicycle lane when an unidentified vehicle traveling eastbound in the No. 3 lane veered to the right and struck him from behind.

The driver fled the scene following the collision. Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

Investigators had not released a description of the vehicle or driver.

Authorities continue to investigate the hit-and-run crash.
