A driver was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle collision in Galt early Tuesday morning, September 29, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 4:00 a.m. on Highway 99 south of Twin Cities Road.
CHP said a vehicle traveling southbound in the far-left lane struck a construction truck ahead of it. The vehicle then crossed all lanes of traffic and the right shoulder before coming to rest on West Stockton Boulevard.
Authorities said the vehicle struck a big rig head-on. The big rig driver was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle, which then caught fire.
The driver of the vehicle that caught fire was pronounced dead at the scene. The big rig driver was not injured.
CHP continues to investigate the crash.
