[10-01-2026] Ventura County, CA – Two Killed, Four Injured in Eight-Vehicle Crash in Oxnard

Two people were killed, and four others suffered injuries in an eight-vehicle collision in Oxnard on Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2026.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers and fire crews responded at around 3:55 p.m. to the intersection of Doris and Victoria avenues.

Police said a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling on Doris Avenue ran a red light and collided with a Honda Civic and a Toyota Avalon, which were traveling through the intersection on a green light. The collision forced the Toyota into a Southern California Edison pole in the center median.

The 31-year-old driver of the Honda and the 58-year-old driver of the Toyota became trapped in their vehicles and were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were Oxnard residents.

Police identified the GMC driver as 29-year-old David M. of Santa Paula. Four other people were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. Authorities said four of the eight vehicles involved sustained major damage.

Traffic investigators believe speed and impairment by alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in the collision. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
