An 80-year-old man was killed after a vehicle vs. golf cart collision in Palm Desert on Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at around 2:30 p.m. on Mojave Sage Street and Bonanza Drive, inside Sun City Palm Desert.
For reasons still unknown, the golf cart collided with a vehicle inside a private county club community at a four-way stop intersection.
The victim, later identified as an 80-year-old Palm Desert native, Sam K., was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, where he died about an hour later.
The authorities are still gathering all the necessary evidence to determine the cause of the crash along with the factors that may have played a role in it.
