One person was critically injured after a bicycle vs. pedestrian hit-and-run crash in North Beach, San Francisco County, on Wednesday afternoon, May 22, 2024.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. at the Broadway and Columbus Avenue intersection.
SFPD stated that a bicyclist struck a female pedestrian just outside the City Lights bookstore before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who was an elderly woman, reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries after getting hit by the bicycle. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
SFPD was able to track down the hit-and-run bicyclist moments later and arrested him. They have yet to release the identity of the apprehended individual, citing that the charges against him are still pending.
