Two people were injured following a fiery single-vehicle crash in Sacramento County on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 2:30 p.m. southbound on Capital City Freeway near Watt Avenue.
Authorities stated that a man in his 30s was driving along the roadway when, for unknown reasons, he went off the road and crashed into a pole. The vehicle caught fire but was immediately put out by the responding officers.
The driver and his 10-year-old female passenger sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital. The child is in critical condition, while the driver’s condition is unknown at this time. It is unclear if the child was properly secured in the car prior to the crash.
