[06-09-2024] Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle on Espinosa Road Near Castroville A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Castroville, Monterey County, on early Sunday morning, June 9, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Espinosa Road east of Highway 183. 

Authorities stated that a pedestrian, identified as a 42-year-old man, was in the westbound lane of Espinosa Road. Meanwhile, the black Mercedes was driving westbound on the same road. The driver of the Mercedes was not able to avoid the pedestrian, resulting in a fatal collision with the man. 

Police said that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Mercedes remained at the crash site to cooperate with the investigation. Additional details on the identity of the man will be provided when the next of kin has been notified.

No further information was released, and the authorities are gathering all the necessary evidence to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.
