[06-08-2024] San Bernardino County, CA – Two People Injured After Suspected Two-Vehicle DUI Crash Involving Police Pursuit in Fontana

Two people were injured after a suspected two-vehicle DUI crash involving a police pursuit in Fontana on Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the accident occurred just after 5:46 p.m. at the junction of Citrus Avenue and Arrow Boulevard.

Police said the incident began after receiving a hit-and-run accident report at Sierra Avenue and Merrill Avenue. They then spotted the suspect vehicle of that separate case, a gray Chrysler sedan, heading north on Sierra at a high rate of speed and initiated a police pursuit.

The Chrysler driver, 30-year-old Denise R., was said to have made several unsafe turns during the chase sequence. The suspect vehicle later collided with another car at Citrus Avenue and Arrow Boulevard.

Two people from the vehicle that got hit at the junction were reportedly injured. One was transported to Kaiser Hospital for unspecified injuries, while the other was treated on-scene by the responding medical team. The two victims’ names, ages, genders, and current conditions were not provided.

Denise R. reportedly stepped out of her vehicle immediately after the crash and was arrested by the officers. She was evaluated at a nearby hospital before being booked into West Valley Detention Center. Follow-up investigations later revealed that she was also allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the incident.

No further information was immediately available. Police work is underway.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
