[06-11-2024] San Luis Obispo County, CA – Two People Injured Following Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101

Two people were injured following a two-vehicle crash in San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday morning, June 11, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Highway 101 at Tassajara Creek Road near Santa Margarita. 

Authorities stated that an 83-year-old Cambria woman driving a Toyota Camry was on the freeway when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2017 Honda Civic driven by a 47-year-old Atascadero man. It is unknown how the crash occurred, but the severe impact of the accident caused major damage to both cars. 

Initial reports said that about four to five vehicles were involved in the crash. However, upon the responding officers’ arrival, they found just two vehicles with damage. 

The man sustained minor injuries, while the woman was transported to the Sierra Vista Hospital with major injuries. At this time, their current condition was not immediately known. Additional details on their identities were not provided. 

Alcohol or drug use is not suspected as the factor of the collision. The authorities are still gathering all the necessary information to determine the cause of the incident. 

No further details were released. Investigations are ongoing.
