[06-13-2024] Monterey County, CA – One Person Injured After Vehicle Vs. Semi-Truck Collision Along Highway 101 Near Spence

One person was injured after a vehicle vs. semi-truck collision in Monterey County on Thursday morning, June 13, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the highway accident happened at about 10:54 a.m. on Highway 101 near Potter Road, between Spence and Chualar.

CHP said that a white Honda sedan veered off the road and crashed into the rear end of the semi-truck that was turning onto Highway 101 from Potter Road. It is believed that the Honda was traveling northbound at an unspecified but high rate of speed.

Officers confirmed that the Honda driver suffered minor injuries in the form of a laceration on the right hand. The truck driver, meanwhile, appeared to be uninjured immediately following the crash. None of the individuals involved have been identified yet.

After the incident, the highway was reportedly reduced to one lane. Heavy traffic delays persisted throughout the afternoon as the officers tried to clear up the scene.

The reason why the Honda suddenly rear-ended the semi-truck remains under investigation.
