[06-28-2024] San Bernardino County, CA – Four People Killed, Three Others Injured After Pursuit Led To Reckless Two-Vehicle DUI Collision in Upland

Four people were killed, and three others were injured after a pursuit that led to a reckless two-vehicle DUI collision in Upland on Friday morning, June 28, 2024. 

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened after 2:00 a.m. at North Mountain Avenue and West 16th Street.

Authorities stated that a pursuit was initiated when a Rancho Cucamonga officer tried to pull over a 2018 Hyundai driver for a possible DUI. However, the driver failed to stop and sped away until they collided with a Ford Mustang near North Mountain Avenue. Two occupants in the Ford were transported to a hospital in unknown condition. 

Meanwhile, the four male occupants of the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene, all of which were suspected to be juveniles. A male juvenile was ejected from the Hyundai, which was reported stolen in Fontana. The boy was sent to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known. 

The driver of the Hyundai was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Further details regarding the incident will be released once they become available.
