A 59-year-old rider was killed following a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in the College Area, San Diego, on Friday evening, June 28, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 7:00 p.m. on eastbound I-8 west of College Avenue.
Authorities stated that a rider, identified as 59-year-old David P., was the sole occupant of a black motorcycle traveling eastbound along I-8. The motorcyclist was reportedly splitting lanes between the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes, causing his motorcycle to crash into the back of a Honda Pilot.
The impact of the collision threw the rider off his bike and down into the roadway lines. He sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As of this writing, it is unknown if anyone else was injured in the crash.
Additional information has yet to be disclosed by the police.
