[07-12-2024] One Person Killed, Another Hospitalized Following Two-Vehicle Collision in Red BluffOne person was killed, while another was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision in Red Bluff on Friday afternoon, July 12, 2024.

According to the Red Bluff Police Department, the traffic incident occurred at about 1:36 p.m. along South Jackson Street near Snow Mountain Way.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a male driver inside a 2017 Ford Escapade was heading southbound on South Jackson Street when, for some reason, his car crashed into a northbound Honda SUV.

When RBPD arrived at the scene, they found the two vehicles blocking South Jackson Street. It is said that the drivers of both vehicles involved got trapped inside the wreckage of their respective cars. Authorities had to use the jaws of life to extricate them.

The Honda driver, a 34-year-old man, was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after sustaining severe injuries. The medical crew administered life-saving measures to the man, but he later succumbed to his injuries. Further details on the identity of the deceased are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The Ford driver, only described as an 18-year-old male, was also transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He is currently listed in stable condition, as per the authorities.

RBPD is still investigating the cause of the accident. It is not immediately known if alcohol, drugs, or speeding played a role.
