[08-03-2024] One Person Injured After Pedestrian Vs. Vehicle DUI Collision Involving Hit-And-Run on Yanonali StreetOne person was injured after a pedestrian vs. vehicle DUI collision involving a hit-and-run in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning, August 3, 2024. 

According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, the crash happened around 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of Yanonali and Calle Cesar Chavez streets.

Authorities stated that a vehicle was traveling through the intersection when it struck a pedestrian, ran through a gas meter on the other side of the curb, and ended up in a building at the corner. As a result, a significant gas leak was reported, requiring an emergency shut-off of several roadways. 

The pedestrian, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, sustained moderate injuries and is expected to recover. They were transported to Cottage Hospital for treatment. 

It is unclear how the suspected vehicle fled the scene after the crash, but police found the driver intoxicated at the time of the incident. The unidentified suspect was arrested for felony DUI and hit-and-run.

Police are still investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Further information has yet to be released once it becomes available.
