[08-05-2024] Santa Barbara County, CA – Two People Seriously Injured After Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 246 Near Buellton

Two people were seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision near Buellton on Monday morning, August 5, 2024.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the accident occurred in the 900 block of Highway 246.

Preliminary reports indicated that a silver SUV struck a red Tesla on the driver’s side for some reason. The driver of the Tesla, described as an elderly man, suffered major injuries and was transported via ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The two occupants of the silver SUV, an adult female driver and a young male passenger, managed to exit the vehicle without assistance from first responders. The woman reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital, while the young male declined medical transport at the scene.

None of the people involved were named yet, and the current condition of the two hospitalized individuals was not immediately available.

Officials released no further details regarding the cause of the crash. The authorities are gathering all the necessary information to determine the factors leading to the incident.
