Two people were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Merced County on Monday evening, August 26, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Interstate 5, south of Arburua Road.
Authorities stated that the incident happened when a Honda Civic, driven by Jose B., collided with a Freightliner Cascadia while attempting to pass it. The Freightliner veered off the road, overturning into a dry creek bed, while the Honda also left the roadway.
The Freightliner driver, 65-year-old Welford J., and his passenger, Sara L., sustained moderate to major injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash. There is no additional information immediately available.
