[09-22-2024] Two Occupants Injured After Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash on 101 Freeway in CamarilloTwo occupants of a Toyota 4Runner were injured after a traffic stop escalated into a high-speed chase that ended in a rollover crash on the 101 Freeway in Camarillo early Sunday morning, September 22, 2024.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 12:03 a.m. when deputies attempted to pull over the vehicle for driving without headlights at the intersection of Peoples Avenue and Barry Street. 

The 4Runner also matched the description of a vehicle involved in a retail theft approximately 30 minutes earlier, although further details about that incident have not been provided. As deputies approached, the suspects fled, leading to a pursuit.

The chase abruptly concluded when the driver made a sharp left turn and collided with the center median on the 101 Freeway, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Both individuals in the 4Runner were transported to a hospital, and their current conditions remain unknown. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
