A father of two was injured when a driver in a white Volvo struck him while he was walking alongside his two small children in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024.
According to Sebastopol police Sgt. Mykael Thompson, around 7:45 p.m., the Volvo veered into the bike lane in the 800 block of Gravenstein Highway North and collided with the 33-year-old pedestrian.
The children were riding their bikes at the time but were not injured. The injured pedestrian was treated at a local hospital and later released.
Police later determined that the Volvo, described as a newer model with a roof rack or storage unit, was traveling approximately 40 mph during the incident. This may have damaged the front passenger-side headlight.
