[09-24-2024] Three People Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Collision at Avenue 25 and Road 9Three people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Madera County on Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene of the crash at Avenue 25 and Road 9 around 2:30 p.m. 

During the investigation, it was determined that a 33-year-old man from Sunnyvale was driving a white 2018 Mazda CX-5 northbound on Road 9, while a 29-year-old man from Merced was driving a white 2017 Ford F-550 eastbound on Avenue 25.

Investigators reported that the driver of the Mazda failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection directly in front of the Ford. The driver of the Ford was unable to avoid the collision, striking the left side of the Mazda, which subsequently crashed into a wood fence and a power pole.

CHP reported that the driver and two passengers in the Mazda sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries and was not transported. 

Detectives stated that alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
