A pedestrian was fatally struck by multiple vehicles on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Cotati just after midnight on Friday, September 27, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 12:10 a.m. near Railroad Avenue.
CHP officers were alerted to the incident and learned that several vehicles had run over the pedestrian, who was lying on the roadway after being hit by an initial vehicle. At approximately 1:45 a.m., the CHP confirmed via social media that the pedestrian had died.
As a result of the fatal crash, northbound lanes on U.S. 101 near Railroad Avenue were closed. Drivers were advised to take alternate routes until the lanes reopened at 6:27 a.m.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
