A pedestrian was killed during a series of crashes involving two alleged drunk drivers on the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway early Sunday morning, September 29, 2024.
The crashes occurred around 3:15 a.m. west of Adams Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Jeep Patriot and a Kia Sportage were initially involved in a collision, causing minor injuries and leaving the Jeep disabled in the traffic lanes.
After the crash, the occupants of the Jeep exited the vehicle and became pedestrians in the lanes. Shortly after, a commercial tractor-trailer traveling eastbound attempted to avoid the disabled Jeep but lost control, overturning after crossing the right concrete wall. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Authorities suspect that the two drivers involved may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
