[09-28-2024] 62-Year-Old Man Killed After Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 86 in CoachellaA 62-year-old man was killed when his vehicle collided with another on Highway 86 in Coachella, Riverside County, on Saturday afternoon, September 28, 2024.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred approximately ¾ of a mile south of where Highway 86 crosses over Avenue 52 and was reported shortly before 2:00 p.m.

The man, identified as Juan C. of Thermal, had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to a hospital in Indio, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the crash.

The coroner noted that the man’s injuries were sustained on the northbound side of the highway. However, the sheriff’s department has not provided additional details about the crash, which remains under investigation.

The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

No further details were immediately available.
