A 43-year-old man was fatally shot outside a Walmart in Hemet on Saturday evening, October 5, 2024.
According to the Hemet Police Department, the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. outside the Walmart located at 859 W. Florida Ave.
Officers responding to the scene found the victim, identified as Jamess B. of Hemet, dead from gunfire injuries.
Authorities arrested a suspect, 46-year-old Ernie M., on suspicion of murder two days later. He was apprehended at 10:45 a.m. on October 7 by the Riverside County Gang Impact Team in Cabazon.
He is currently held without bail at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning but has not yet been formally charged.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
