[10-22-2024] Fatal Collision Between Ford SUV and Motorized Wheelchair in Red BluffA 64-year-old man died in a collision involving a Ford SUV and a motorized wheelchair in Red Bluff on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2024.

According to the Red Bluff Police Department, officers were dispatched to Antelope Boulevard at the Sacramento River Bridge around 6:56 p.m. following reports of an injury-causing crash.

Upon arrival, officers found the Ford SUV blocking the eastbound #2 lane of Antelope Boulevard. Investigators determined that the man had been driving his motorized wheelchair against traffic in the eastbound lane when a head-on collision occurred with the Ford.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured and did not show any signs of drug or alcohol impairment. After a medical evaluation, the driver was released from the scene.

Despite efforts from emergency crews to perform life-saving measures, the 64-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
