A woman on a bicycle sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car in an apparent hit-and-run near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco on Thursday evening, October 24, 2024.
The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Taylor and Beach streets.
According to eyewitness accounts, the driver fled the scene on foot, jumping into a second vehicle that sped away. Another individual also entered the vehicle that struck the bicyclist before it left the area.
Witnesses reported that a police cruiser pursued the vehicle shortly after the collision, while onlookers watched as the fleeing car drove over the damaged bicycle. The bicyclist appeared to have suffered severe injuries, including the loss of most of her front teeth and was bleeding at the scene. As paramedics assisted her, she was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.
San Francisco Fire Capt. Justin Schorr confirmed that the department received multiple calls about the crash starting at 6:34 p.m. Although the victim’s injuries were deemed not life-threatening, details regarding her condition remain unavailable.
After the police began pursuing the suspect vehicle, it crashed into a business on the 1800 block of Montgomery Street. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Elizabeth J., attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers. She now faces multiple charges, including recklessly evading a police officer, hit and run, resisting arrest, conspiracy to commit a felony, speeding, and driving with a suspended license.
The identities of the other two suspects involved in the incident are still unknown, and they remain at large.
