[10-24-2024] Police Pursuit Ends in Multi-Vehicle Crash, Killing Passenger and Injuring Others Along Collett AvenueA 62-year-old man was charged after a police pursuit led to a fatal crash in Riverside on Thursday afternoon, October 24, 2024.

According to Riverside police spokesperson Officer Ryan Railsback, the incident began shortly after 2:00 p.m. when Fontana police officers attempted to approach Ezequiel L., who was driving a Nissan Maxima in the La Sierra area. The driver allegedly rammed his vehicle into the officers’ unmarked car before fleeing the scene.

As the driver entered the intersection of Collett Avenue and Riverwalk Parkway, he triggered a multi-vehicle collision, resulting in the death of his 49-year-old female passenger, identified only as “K.R.” by court documents. Three additional people from other vehicles sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital before being taken into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including felony evading and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. His arraignment is scheduled for November 13 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
