A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on Volta Road north of Highway 152 in Merced County on Sunday evening, November 10, 2024.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene at around 7:15 p.m., where a 32-year-old man from Los Banos was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Volta Road. Meanwhile, another man was riding a 2020 Suzuki motorcycle in the opposite direction.
Authorities stated that the truck crossed the broken yellow line to make a left turn into a driveway, striking the motorcycle head-on. The motorcyclist died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, while the truck driver was unharmed.
The identities of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. The collision is under investigation, and authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
