A juvenile male bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Columbus Street in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon, November 13, 2024.
Officers responded to the intersection of Columbus Street and Loyola Street at approximately 2:54 p.m., where they found the bicyclist with major injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts from emergency personnel, the boy was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The investigation revealed that the driver, a man, was traveling west on Columbus Street when the bicyclist, heading south on Loyola Street, was struck.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. Police stated that drugs, alcohol, and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
