[01-05-2025] 86-Year-Old Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on I-5 Near Turner Road in StocktonAn 86-year-old man was fatally injured in a suspected DUI crash in Stockton early Sunday morning, January 5, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 5 near Turner Road.

A 29-year-old driver in a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the #2 lane at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2003 Honda Civic from behind.

The impact caused the Civic, driven by the 86-year-old man, to veer off the roadway and overturn down an embankment, eventually resting on its roof. The Camry spun and came to a stop in the #2 lane and the west shoulder of the freeway.

First responders provided aid at the scene, but the Civic driver was pronounced dead on-site. The driver of the Camry was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, CHP reported.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Further details have not been released.
