A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck late Monday night, January 27, 2025, on state Route 54 in National City.
According to police, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of SR-54 near Highland Avenue. Authorities reported that a Toyota pickup truck hit the victim, who was walking on the freeway for unknown reasons.
First responders found the pedestrian unconscious on the roadway and attempted life-saving measures, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
