A multi-vehicle crash in San Jose left one person critically injured and shut down a portion of Almaden Expressway for several hours on Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2025.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Almaden Expressway between Hillsdale Avenue and Branham Lane, just north of State Route 85.
Emergency responders transported one patient to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities closed all southbound and northbound lanes of Almaden Expressway between Branham Lane and Hillsdale Avenue for several hours, advising motorists to use alternate routes.
By 6:30 p.m., police confirmed that the patient remained in critical but stable condition, and the roadway was reopening.
The SJPD is investigating the cause of the collision.
