[02-21-2025] Santa Barbara County, CA – Two People Injured After Car Crash Near Sweeny Road in Lompoc

Two people sustained serious injuries after a car crash that led to a brush fire near Sweeny Road in Lompoc on Friday evening, February 21, 2025.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, at around 6:00 p.m., the vehicle went off the road, causing a brush fire that spread to about one-third of an acre. Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire by 7:38 p.m.

The crash involved a woman who suffered major injuries and required airlift transportation to Marian Regional Medical Center. A man in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance.

Two dogs in the vehicle also suffered moderate to major injuries and were assisted by animal control.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews remained at the scene for several hours to contain and mop up the brush fire. 

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
