A driver was killed, and a passenger was injured in a rollover crash on Highway 65 near Dairy Road, about a mile north of Wheatland, on Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office, the accident occurred just after noon when a reddish-orange Toyota Tacoma veered onto the right shoulder of Highway 65.
The driver reportedly made a sharp turn, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times before coming to rest on its roof just off the two-lane roadway.
The driver, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of family by the Yuba County Coroner’s Office, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Tacoma sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Highway 65 was closed for about two hours as emergency responders attended to the scene and cleared the wreckage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
