Two people were hospitalized following a three-vehicle collision on Modoc Road just west of Via Senda and the Las Palmas Drive bridge in Santa Barbara County on Thursday afternoon, April 17, 2025.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, emergency personnel assisted a man out of one of the vehicles before transporting him to Cottage Hospital with major injuries. A woman involved in the crash was also transported with moderate injuries.
Both patients were taken to Cottage Hospital for medical care. Authorities confirmed that Modoc Road was closed in both directions while emergency response and investigation efforts continued.
The exact cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
