A man was killed after running a stop sign and colliding with a pickup truck in Merced County on Monday afternoon, May 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Cressey Way and Eucalyptus Avenue.
Officers said a man driving a 2017 Ford pickup was heading northbound on Cressey Way with the right of way when a Toyota coupe, driven westbound on Eucalyptus Avenue by a man in his 30s from Merced, failed to stop at the posted sign and entered the intersection, resulting in a collision.
Authorities stated that the driver of the Toyota, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the Ford were not injured. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
