[05-07-2025] One Killed, Three Injured in Suspected DUI Crash at Cecil Avenue and Wallace Road Near DelanoOne person was killed and three others were injured following a two-vehicle crash involving suspected alcohol use near Delano on Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:38 p.m. at Cecil Avenue and Wallace Road.

A 2004 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Wallace Road at about 60 mph when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign at Cecil Avenue. At the same time, a 2016 Chevrolet box truck was traveling eastbound on Cecil Avenue at approximately 55 mph.

Authorities said the front of the Toyota struck the left side of the Chevrolet at the intersection. Cecil Avenue at Wallace Road is not controlled by a stop sign.

The right front passenger of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the left rear passenger of the Toyota were transported to Kern Medical with moderate to major injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Delano Regional Hospital with suspected moderate injuries.

The intersection was closed in all directions for about four hours for the investigation and roadway cleanup. CHP confirmed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
