[05-28-2025] 11-Year-Old Bicyclist Critically Injured in Crash at Owens Street and Quincy StreetAn 11-year-old child riding a bicycle was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Owens Street and Quincy Street in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2025.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision occurred around 4:50 p.m. when the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Quincy Street. 

At the same time, a woman driving a silver sedan was heading southbound on Owens Street. The impact happened within the intersection, which has no stop signs or traffic signals.

Emergency responders transported the young victim by ambulance to a hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Police confirmed that the driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Initial findings indicate that neither excessive speed nor impairment contributed to the crash. The incident remains under active investigation.
