One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 163 in the Mission Valley area of San Diego on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pileup occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on the northbound side of SR-163 near Interstate 8 and involved four vehicles.
One individual was reportedly trapped in a vehicle following the crash. Only one northbound lane remained open as authorities responded to the scene and managed traffic.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
