A 17-year-old boy suffered serious leg injuries after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in the Fairmont Village neighborhood of San Diego on Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and Dwight Street.
Authorities said the teen was riding southbound along the east sidewalk of Fairmont Avenue when a 20-year-old driver, who had stopped at a red light on Dwight Street, began to turn right.
As the driver turned, the bicyclist entered the road within a pedestrian crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle. The teen sustained a fractured left femur and a shattered left ankle. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Police said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
