[07-26-2025] One Dead, Another Arrested in DUI Crash on 118 Freeway Near Price RoadA DUI crash resulted in one fatality and one arrest in Ventura County early Saturday morning, July 26, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 3:58 a.m. on the eastbound side of Freeway 118 near Price Road. CHP and Ventura County Fire Department units responded after receiving an iPhone crash alert.

Preliminary findings indicate that a 27-year-old man from Oxnard was driving a 2017 Honda Accord with a 25-year-old Oxnard man in the passenger seat. The driver was reportedly speeding over the posted 55 mph limit when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway.

The Honda struck a Southern California Edison utility pole and rolled over several times. The passenger was ejected during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving efforts. His identity has not been released.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
