[08-07-2025] Scooter Rider Killed in Collision with Volkswagen Taos SUV in FullertonA man riding a SYM scooter was killed in a crash with a Volkswagen Taos SUV in Fullerton on Thursday evening, August 7, 2025.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, the collision was reported at 8:03 p.m. near the intersection of West Malvern Avenue and Wesley Drive. 

When officers arrived, they found the scooter rider with significant, life-threatening injuries lying in the number two lane of eastbound Malvern Avenue. 

Officers began CPR immediately until paramedics arrived and took over life-saving efforts. The rider was transported to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the scooter rider was traveling westbound on Malvern Avenue when he struck the driver’s side of the Volkswagen Taos. 

The impact caused the rider to be thrown from the scooter. The driver of the Taos remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. The victim’s identity will be released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
