A 49-year-old man was killed after his vehicle collided with the back of a tanker truck in Tulare County late Friday night, August 8, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:21 p.m. on State Route 63 near Avenue 352.
CHP said the driver of a 2023 Kenworth commercial semi-truck pulling a gasoline tank trailer was slowing to make a left turn when a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox SUV struck the trailer at high speed.
The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The 35-year-old driver of the Kenworth was not injured, and no fuel was released from the trailer.
Investigators believe drug use may have been a contributing factor and said the Chevrolet driver appeared not to have been wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
