At least one person was killed and others were injured in a head-on collision in Bakersfield early Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 12:45 a.m. on Bear Mountain Boulevard, west of South Fairfax Road.
Authorities said two vehicles collided head-on, with both vehicles smoking at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office was called at approximately 1:15 a.m.
Additional injuries were reported, though it is unclear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
